Biography

Therese Giehse was a distinguished German actress born on March 6, 1898, in Munich to German-Jewish parents. She first appeared on stage in 1920 and became a major star on stage, film, and in political cabaret, particularly at the Munich Kammerspiele from the late 1920s through 1933. Her notable roles include Old Lady in "Black Moon" (1975), La Grand-mère in "Lacombe, Lucien" (1974), and Elfriede Bergmann in "Sons, Mothers and a General" (1955).
