Biography

Erich Finsches was born on September 11, 1927, in Vienna to a Jewish family. As an eleven-year-old, he was arrested during the November pogroms and subjected to forced labor before being deported to Auschwitz concentration camp and later Dachau subcamps. After surviving the Holocaust, Finsches became a contemporary witness, sharing his experiences with schools and filmmakers, including Austrian director Ulrich Seidl, in films like "Import Export" (2007).
