Dave Kalama

Biography

Dave Kalama is a renowned big wave surfer and celebrity watersports enthusiast who lives in Hawaii. He is credited with co-developing tow-in surfing and has been promoting stand-up paddling, which he and friend Laird Hamilton have mastered together, completing increasingly longer solo paddle events between Hawaiian islands. A competitive ski racer and football player in high school, Kalama's family legacy includes a world-champion surfer grandfather and an outrigger canoe paddler father.
