She is known for creating the Kabarettist character Else Stratmann and for her series Lesen!, which earned her the Bambi award in 2003 and the Grimme Award in 2006. Heidenreich has also written children's books and introduced opera culture to a broader public, with a 12-year stint at the Cologne Opera.
