Jaroslav Marvan was a Czech actor born in Prague on December 11, 1901, and married to Marie Marvanov since the 1920s. He had notable roles at various prominent theatres, including Vlasta Burian's Theatre and Národní Divadlo, before serving for two years at the latter before his death in 1974. His career spanned multiple film eras, including silent and sound films, with standout performances in notable titles like "Dobrý voják Švejk" and "Revizor".
