Edward D. Wood Jr.
Biography
Ed Wood was a prolific American filmmaker, actor, and novelist known for his cult classics in the 1950s science fiction and horror genres. His films, such as Glen or Glenda (1953) and Plan 9 from Outer Space (1957), are characterized by their campy aesthetics and technical errors. After facing financial difficulties following the death of lead actor Béla Lugosi, Wood shifted towards sexploitation and pornographic films in the 1960s and 1970s. He was posthumously awarded a Golden Turkey Award for Worst Director of All Time in 1980.
