Markéta Irglová is a Czech-Icelandic singer-songwriter and actress born on February 28, 1988. She rose to international acclaim with the indie film Once (2007), earning an Academy Award for Best Original Song for "Falling Slowly" alongside Glen Hansard. The Swell Season, her collaborative project with Hansard, released three studio albums, including their self-titled debut in 2006 and Strict Joy in 2009.
