Biography

Anwar bin Ibrahim is a Malaysian politician who served as Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister under Mahathir Mohamad from 1982 to 1998. He was jailed for sodomy and corruption from 1999 to 2004, but re-emerged as Leader of the Opposition from 2008 to 2015. After a royal pardon in 2018, Anwar became Leader of the Opposition again and led Pakatan Harapan to win the 2022 Malaysian general election, becoming the 10th Prime Minister of Malaysia in 2022.
