Veronika Nowag-Jones

Biography

Veronika Nowag-Jones was born in Leipzig in 1946 and studied drama at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater from 1962 to 1966. She began her professional life in East Germany before fleeing in 1974, following two earlier attempts, and making a new start in West Berlin. In New York, she became part of the New York Street Theatre Caravan, premiering her first solo play on homelessness in 1980, which was also performed at the Vienna theater festival.
