Salvatore "Turi" Ferro was a renowned Italian actor born on January 10, 1921, in Catania. He founded his own theatrical company with wife Ida Carrara and co-founded the Teatro Stabile di Catania, staging numerous works by Sicilian authors. A David di Donatello recipient in 1974 for his performances, Ferro is considered Italy's most important actor in the post-World War II era. He passed away on May 10, 2001, due to a myocardial infarction.
