Elizabeth Ann Warren (née Herring) is an American politician and former law professor serving as the senior United States senator from Massachusetts since 2013. A progressive Democrat, she has focused on consumer protection, economic opportunity, and social safety nets in the Senate. Warren was a presidential candidate in 2020, finishing third, before reentering politics to defeat John Deaton in 2024.
