Joseph Sweeney

Biography

Joseph Sweeney was born on July 26, 1884, in Philadelphia and began his acting career in 1910. He moved to Broadway, where he had a successful stage performance career, including roles in productions such as George Washington Slept Here and Days To Remember. In the 1950s, Sweeney transitioned to television, appearing in numerous shows, including "Wesley," "Lights Out," and "Studio One." His most famous role was as Juror #9 in Sidney Lumet's film adaptation of "12 Angry Men," a part he originated in a 1954 live teleplay.
