Biography

Fernando Vargas is a retired Mexican-American boxer and two-time world champion, known for his victories over former world champions Raúl Márquez, Ike Quartey, and Winky Wright. He won the IBF light middleweight title in 1998 and held it until 2000, and the WBA title from 2001 to 2002. Vargas is a bronze medalist from the 1995 Pan American Games and had a notable amateur career, finishing with a record of 100–5.
