Joshua Oppenheimer, born on September 23, 1974 in Texas, USA, is a British film director known for his critically acclaimed and Oscar-nominated films The Act of Killing (2012) and The Look of Silence (2014). A 1997 Marshall Scholar and 2014 MacArthur fellowship recipient, Oppenheimer holds a PhD from Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design. He has also taught as Professor of Film at the University of Westminster.
