Biography

Jean-Pierre Gorin is a French filmmaker and professor born on April 17, 1943. He was a radical leftist well before meeting Jean-Luc Godard in 1966, with whom he collaborated on several films, including La Chinoise and Le Gai Savoir. Gorin co-founded the Dziga Vertov Group with Godard in 1968, producing overtly political films like Vent d'est and Tout va bien. He later taught at UC San Diego, continuing to make essay films that explore his Southern California tetralogy.
