Jean Narboni

Biography

Jean Narboni, born on October 24, 1937 in Orléansville, Algeria, is a French film critic, historian, and university professor. He discovered cinema through the Algiers ciné-club and later became an active member of Paris's Cinémathèque française. As a writer for Cahiers du cinéma since 1963, Narboni played a key role in shaping the modernist direction of the publication, serving as co-editor-in-chief alongside Jean-Louis Comolli from 1968 onward.
