Jean Eustache

Biography

Jean Eustache was a French film director and editor born on November 30, 1938, in Pessac, Gironde, France. He is known for his two critically acclaimed features, The Mother and the Whore (1973) and Mes Petites Amoureuses (1974), which are considered key works of post-Nouvelle Vague French cinema. Eustache's films were marked by their hyperreal fiction and focus on themes of seduction and sorrow, earning him a reputation as a bold and innovative filmmaker. He died in Paris on November 3, 1981.
