Hubert Koundé

Biography

Hubert Koundé is a French actor and film director born on December 30, 1970, in France to Beninese parents who raised him by his grandparents. He spent his childhood between France and Benin, and later returned to Paris to attend school. Koundé is known for his role as Hubert in Mathieu Kassovitz's La Haine (1995), which earned him a nomination for the César Award for Most Promising Actor. In addition to acting, he has also directed two short films, Qui se ressemble s'assemble and Menhir, co-directed Paris, la métisse, and written and performed in his play Cagoule: Valentine and Yamina (2003).
