Tom Harkin

Thomas Richard Harkin is a distinguished American politician and lawyer, serving as a United States senator from Iowa from 1985 to 2015. A member of the Democratic Party, he was a vocal advocate for disability rights, sponsoring the landmark Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990. Harkin also held several high-profile positions, including chair of the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions. He announced his retirement from politics in 2013.
