Kayoko Shiraishi

Biography

Kayoko Shiraishi is a Japanese stage actress known for her pioneering work in the Angura theater movement of the 1960s, where she became the star performer in the Waseda Little Theatre troupe led by Tadashi Suzuki. Her breakthrough film role came in 1973 as Oba in Female Convict Scorpion: Jailhouse 41, marking the beginning of her illustrious career. Shiraishi's distinctive voice can be heard in the 1992 film adaptation of Stravinsky's Oedipus Rex directed by Julie Taymor.
