Biography

Mário Peixoto was a Brazilian film director known for his experimental silent film Limite (1931), which he wrote, directed, and appeared in. The film, featuring musical scores by renowned composers, has become almost mythical over the years due to its rarity and Peixoto's own fabrications surrounding it. Despite being lost and nearly forgotten, a restored copy was discovered through personal efforts of critics in the 1970s. This singular achievement solidified Peixoto's reputation as a pioneering filmmaker.
