Moazzam Begg
Biography
Moazzam Begg is a British Pakistani Muslim who was held in extrajudicial detention by the US government for nearly three years, accused of being an al-Qaeda member and recruiting others for the group. Despite claims he recruited fighters and trained to fight against US troops, Begg denies involvement with terrorism and alleges abuse while incarcerated at Bagram. He was released without charge in 2005 after a public outcry, and has since become a commentator on UK Muslim issues and anti-terror measures.
