Damien Hirst is a renowned English artist and art collector, born in 1965, who dominated the UK's art scene in the 1990s as part of the Young British Artists movement. His works often explore the theme of death, featuring preserved dead animals, such as his iconic tiger shark suspended in formaldehyde. In 2008, Hirst broke records by selling a complete show at Sotheby's for £111 million.
