Joao Pedro de Magalhaes

Biography

João Pedro de Magalhães is a Portuguese molecular biologist known for his pioneering work in understanding aging and longevity. His research has led to breakthroughs in sequencing the genome of exceptional long-lived species, such as the bowhead whale and naked mole rat. He is currently Chair of Molecular Biogerontology at the University of Birmingham, leading the Genomics of Aging and Rejuvenation Lab.
