John Long

Biography

John Long is an American rock climber and author born in 1959. A standout in his climbing career, Long made history with the first one-day ascent of El Capitan's West Face in 1976, a feat he completed in just five hours with partner Dale Bard. A pioneer in the modern speed climbing movement, Long's bold ascents continue to inspire climbers to this day. His passion for climbing has also been recognized in his 2014 film appearance.
