Scilla Gabel

Biography

Scilla Gabel was born Scilla Gabellini in Rimini, Italy, and studied law at Oxford University before pursuing a career in acting. At 17, she became a body double for Sophia Loren, later undergoing cosmetic surgery to forge her own screen image. Gabel appeared in numerous films, often typecast in physical roles, before shifting focus to stage and television in the late 1960s. She found critical acclaim and significant roles in TV miniseries after 1971.
