Wilbur James "Jimmy" Cobb was a renowned American jazz drummer born on January 20, 1929, in Washington, D.C. He joined Miles Davis's First Great Sextet in 1958 and recorded iconic tracks like Kind of Blue (1959) with the group, becoming the last surviving player from the sessions. Cobb received an NEA Jazz Masters Fellowship in 2009 for his contributions to jazz.
