Valéry Giscard d'Estaing was a French politician who served as President of France from 1974 to 1981, marking a more liberal attitude on social issues and a push for modernization. During his tenure, he oversaw significant infrastructure projects, including the TGV and nuclear power initiatives, which aimed to transform France's energy landscape. Giscard d'Estaing also promoted trade liberalization, but faced challenges due to an economic downturn following the 1973 energy crisis.
