Zelda Sears

Biography

Zelda Sears was a pioneering American actress, screenwriter, novelist, and businesswoman. She began her career as a writer for a Chicago newspaper and later became an actress, playing comic roles on stage in New York. Her writing career took off when she copied scientific articles for Dr. William Bull, leading to the publication of her short story "The Name Above The Door". Sears went on to write dialogue for theatrical shows and co-wrote the screenplay for Cecil B. DeMille's 1930 film "The Divorcee".
