Zhang Yimou
Biography
Zhang Yimou is a Chinese film director, producer, writer, and actor, known for his visually stunning films that explore the resilience of ordinary people in the face of hardship. He made his directorial debut with Red Sorghum in 1987, winning the Golden Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival. His work has increasingly engaged with grand narratives on politics and history, such as in Hero (2002) and The Flowers Of War (2011).
