Scott Hamilton is a retired American figure skater and Olympic gold medalist born on August 28, 1958, in Toledo, Ohio. He won four consecutive U.S. championships (1981–84) and four consecutive World Championships (1981–84), claiming the top prize at the 1984 Winter Olympics. A pioneer of innovative footwork sequences, Hamilton also showcased his signature backflip move in exhibition routines as an amateur.
