Biography

Matteo Garrone is an Italian filmmaker born in Rome, Italy, to a theatre critic father and photographer mother. He won the Sacher d'Oro award for his short film Silhouette (1996) and went on to win Best Director at the European Film Awards and David di Donatello Awards for Gomorrah (2008), as well as the Grand Prix at Cannes for Reality (2012). His films have been recognized with numerous awards, including multiple Nastro d'Argento Awards.
