Cao Cuifen

Biography

Cao Cuifen is a Chinese actress born on April 6, 1944, in Shanghai. She gained international recognition for her powerful performance in Raise the Red Lantern. Her other notable roles include Zhuoyun in Da hong denglong gaogao gua (1991) and Orphan Tears (1995), for which she won several awards. Cao's early life was marked by her time at the Beijing Film Academy prep school and later her departure and return due to the Cultural Revolution.
