Paul Fonoroff

Biography

Paul Kendel Fonoroff is a film critic and historian specializing in Chinese-language cinema, born in Cleveland, Ohio in 1954. A self-taught expert, he spent years studying Chinese and became ingrained in Hong Kong's local film culture, writing reviews and appearing on television. Fonoroff's expertise led to small acting roles in twenty films, and he donated his extensive collection of Chinese film journals to the University of California, Berkeley in 2015.
