John Kander
Biography
John Kander was born on March 18, 1927, in Kansas City, Missouri, to a loving Jewish family that nurtured his early interest in music. As part of the acclaimed songwriting team Kander and Ebb with lyricist Fred Ebb, he wrote scores for numerous musicals, including Cabaret (1966) and Chicago (1975), both adapted into successful films. This work earned him multiple Tony Awards, Golden Globe nominations, and a Lifetime Achievement Award.
