Kirk Hammett is an American musician born on November 18, 1962, in San Francisco, California. He co-formed thrash metal band Exodus in 1979 and later became the lead guitarist of Metallica in 1983. Ranked among the greatest guitarists of all time, including a top 15 spot in Joel McIver's "The 100 Greatest Metal Guitarists" and a 2023 Rolling Stone ranking.
