He began his career making short films and later directed episodes of British television shows, including EastEnders and Cold Feet, before gaining recognition with his HBO projects. Hooper's feature film debut was Red Dust (2004), followed by critically acclaimed films like The King's Speech (2010) and Les Misérables (2012).
