Biography

Necati Şaşmaz was born in Elazığ, Turkey, to a family of Zaza origin. He studied Tourism and Hotel Management in Canada before living in the United States for six years. Due to the 9/11 attacks, Şaşmaz returned to Turkey instead of attempting to return to the US. He later met Turkish director Osman Sınav, who offered him the leading role in "Kurtlar Vadisi: Irak" and he went on to play Polat Alemdar in the series and movie spin-offs.
