Deepak Chopra is an American author and alternative medicine advocate born on October 22, 1946. A physician by education, he studied medicine in India before emigrating to the US and became a prominent proponent of pseudoscientific approaches to well-being, including yoga, meditation, and nutrition. He gained popularity after being interviewed on The Oprah Winfrey Show in 1993 and went on to establish the Maharishi Ayurveda Health Center.
