Rena Owen is a New Zealand actress of Maori and Pakeha descent, born on July 22, 1962, in the Bay of Islands. She rose to fame with her lead role as Beth Heke in Lee Tamahori's cult classic Once Were Warriors (1994), earning awards including Best Actress at the Montreal World Film Festival and San Diego International Film Festival. Owen has also worked with notable directors Rolf de Heer and George Lucas, most notably in Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones.
