Curt Lowens

Biography

Curt Lowens was a German actor and Holocaust survivor who saved about 150 Jewish children during World War II. Born in Allenstein, Poland, he grew up in Berlin with his mother active in local Jewish community organizations before the Nazis' takeover. After Kristallnacht, Lowens received his bar mitzvah in 1939 and later emigrated to the United States, where he began an acting career that included notable roles in film and television.
