Michael Ivins

Biography

Michael Ivins is a founding member and former bassist of The Flaming Lips, a role he held for 38 years until 2021. Initially hired due to his punk-rock appearance rather than musical ability, Ivins learned to play bass and went on to become an integral part of the band's studio recordings, which he helped engineer from 1994 onwards.
