Biography

Can Togay is a Hungarian film director, screenwriter, actor, poet, and cultural diplomat, born August 27, 1955, to Turkish parents. He spent his childhood in Germany and studied German and English literature and linguistics at Eötvös Loránd University before graduating in film directing from the University of Theatre and Film Arts in Budapest. His 1992 film A nyaraló was screened at the Cannes Film Festival, and he conceived the idea for the Holocaust Memorial Cipők a Duna-parton.
