Biography

Winston Rodney, known as Burning Spear, is a Jamaican roots reggae singer-songwriter born on March 1, 1945. As one of the most influential and long-standing roots artists to emerge from the 1970s, he was influenced by Curtis Mayfield and James Brown's music, and by Marcus Garvey's views on Pan-Africanism and self-determination. He gained recognition for his appearance in the 1978 film "Rockers" alongside Bob Marley.
