Seijun Suzuki

Biography

Seijun Suzuki was a Japanese filmmaker, actor, and screenwriter known for his jarring visual style and irreverent humor in films like Branded to Kill (1967) and the critically acclaimed Taishō trilogy. After being dismissed by Nikkatsu Company due to his increasingly surreal style, he sued the studio and won, but was blacklisted for 10 years. Suzuki later gained international recognition through retrospectives, home video releases, and tributes from notable filmmakers.
