Biography

Kenpachirō Satsuma was a Japanese actor and stuntman born Yasuaki Maeda on May 27, 1947 in Kagoshima Prefecture. He gained recognition for his portrayal of Godzilla in the Heisei film series, taking over the role permanently in 1984 after an initial stint from 1971 to 1972. Satsuma is also known for his performances as "Takeru Yamato" and a brief stint as Hedorah's antagonist in Godzilla vs. Hedorah (1971), before later playing Gigan in two further films.
