Tim O'Kelly was a stage actor who initially gained attention for his work with the Santa Monica Group Theater, later serving as a director and acting coach. He also appeared in various Western TV series, including The Monroes and The Big Valley, before landing a notable film role as Bobby Thompson in Peter Bogdanovich's Targets (1968), a character loosely based on Texas tower sniper Charles Whitman.
