Maurizio Merli
Biography
Maurizio Merli was a prominent Italian film actor who broke into stardom in 1974 with his lead role in the remake of "Catene" and later became synonymous with the poliziotteschi genre, starring in nearly a dozen films, including "Violent Rome", where he played the iconic Commissario Betti. Merli's success was largely due to his resemblance to cult actor Franco Nero. He tragically died in 1989 of a heart attack during a tennis match.
