Biography

Joe Alves is a renowned film production designer and director, best known for his work on three of the Jaws films and Steven Spielberg's Close Encounters of the Third Kind. He designed the mechanical sharks for Jaws (1975) and won the BAFTA for Best Art Direction for his work on Close Encounters. Alves also directed Jaws 3-D and worked on Jaws 2 as both production designer and second unit director.
