Clyde Beatty was an American animal trainer, zoo owner, and circus mogul who rose to fame as a lion tamer and animal trainer. He began his career as a cage cleaner for Howe's Great London Circus in 1921 and later became the face of his own Clyde Beatty Circus from 1945 to 1956. Beatty's "fighting act" featuring wild animals with a whip and piñata earned him notoriety, cementing his status as one of the world's most famous circus performers.
